August’s over and to be honest, it was super low-key for me. I didn’t wear much make up and when I did, I wore the same simple looks more or less consistently. That means that most of my favourites this month are hair and body related, which probably makes for a nice change if you’re a regular reader of my favourites posts! No wading through endless eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks this month, we’re going back to basics!
Let’s see what I’ve been loving and why they’re so fantastic!
Sometimes, you just don’t want to spend a lot of money on make up. There are other things to pay for like internet and food and , you know, they’re kind of important! Other times, you want cheap things so you can buy a whole bunch of them or maybe you’re unsure of a colour and don’t want to waste a small fortune and a shade you end up not liking.
Whatever the reason, I’ve got your back! I’ve compiled a list of five tried and true products that will allow you to get all glammed up with money spare. All the products you see before you are £5 or less (yes, even the palette!).
My skin hasn’t been behaving recently, or for quite a while if I’m being honest. So, I figured it’s time for a change. A big change. I decided to completely scrap my skincare routine and start over.
When I heard about a brand called FaceB4, I was interested. Their antibacterial skincare set would pretty much reduce my skincare routine down to just two products. For someone who was using around 6 products, that’s pretty ridiculous! If it worked that’d save me a helluva lot of time (not to mention money)!
Sometimes the things we do to make our selves look or feel fabulous can actually be rather damaging. That damage can often be very difficult, sometimes impossible to reverse. Other times, there are things we can do. This is one of those times. You may remember that a few weeks ago, I bleached highlights into my hair. I still love the results, I think it looks great. The only downside is that bleach really damages your hair. It gets weird and rubbery, breaks and goes very dry, unless you do something about it.
Luckily, I remembered some products I received at the Bloggers Unite Summer Event, quite some time ago. I’d been saving them for something just like this! They were from the brands Noir Caviar, which aims to ‘anti-age’ the hair by repairing damage and Keratin Revolution, which uses keratin to make the hair smooth, shiny and frizz free.
I decided to put them to the test and see if they really worked…
I didn’t know what to call this post for two reasons. 1. These aren’t really kits. It’s more like one larger kit broken down into smaller ones that you can create different looks with. 2. I don’t like calling people beginners. It implies I think I know a lot about something, which I don’t.
What this post is really about is the essential products you need to create the type of look you’re going for. Whether that’s super natural, a little jazzed up or dramatic. I’ve got a collection of (mostly very affordable) products to share with you to help you achieve those looks. I’ll also be showing you what they look like on to give you a better of how it’ll look on you.
If you’re a complete make-up junkie like me, you probably find yourself watching hauls and tutorials on Youtube quite a bit! That’s great for learning new techniques, getting inspiration and discovering new products. What absolutely sucks, is when you fall in love with a product, look it up and find that it’s either not available in your country or costs an arm and a leg to ship over to your country. I have felt this way a lot.
Step in Beauty Crowd! They have filled a little hole in my heart with international beauty goodies. They have a TON of international brands on their site and they ship worldwide – everyone’s a winner. The brands I knew I wanted to get my hands on straight away were Milani and Jordana. I’d seen them everywhere and I had specific products in mind.
It seems like forever since I’ve done a mystery accessories unboxing from Prairie Charms. Don’t worry, I haven’t gone off them and they haven’t fallen off the face of the Earth; they’ve just been over in they USA on business, so they slowed down the output of their mystery bags for logistical reasons. However, when they did announce a mystery bag with the theme ‘Mystical Creatures’, I knew I had to have it. I’m a big kid at heart and love all things magical. As demonstrated here:
It seemed perfect, fantasy themed accessories that I could possibly get away with in the real world without being looked at funny (not that you should care what people think, you do you). I couldn’t wait! The bag cost £12+p&p and was available through Prairie Charms twitter account (linked), they often have bags of different themes available, so even if this isn’t to your taste, chances are there’ll be a theme for you at some point!
